Daniel Bayless was born on December 15, 1716 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He married Johanna Lake on January 17, 1735. She was the daughter of John and Martina Lake Daniel Bayless, Jr. (1737), The family moved from New Jersey to Cecil County, Maryland some time between 1757-62. By 1771 they moved to Loudon County, Virginia. In 1780-81 Daniel and his sons moved to Washington County, Tennessee. Daniel Bayless was pastor of the Cherokee Baptist Church. Washington County, Tennessee 1788/89 Deed of conveyance Reubin Bayless to James Keele, 121A, pbo Samuel Wood In 1795 Daniel owned one hundred acres on Cherokee Creek in Washington County, Tennessee. In 1796 Daniel Bayless (Jr) owned land near the Brown Settlement. In 1798 Daniel Bayless was appointed to serve as constable in his district. Daniel, John, Elias, Samuel G., and Reuben fought in the Revolutionary War. Daniel died on June 1, 1800 in Washington County, Tennessee.
